Anti-intellectualism flourishes in contemporary America. To the applause of conservatives, George W. Bush took pride in his C average at Yale University. Mitt Romney has sought to burnish his anti-intellectual credentials by complaining that the Harvard-educated Obama “spent too much time at Harvard.” Romney, who has spent more time at Harvard than Obama, and has sent three of his sons there, explained that little can be learned from “just reading” or hanging out “at the faculty lounge.
– From Russell Jacoby’s review of David Gelertner’s new book, America-Lite: How Imperial Academia Dismantled Our Culture (and Ushered in the Obamacrats). The whole review is worth a read.

Beginnings
It’s hard to decidedly determine the beginning. I’ve experienced many beginnings, and like the slut that I am, many endings. (No need to infer, I am sarcastic and homosexual. Though, these days both characteristics intermingle so well its difficult to determine if there is a defining difference between the two.)
Life as it is experienced has a hazy start and an indefinite ending. Our dreams are ever evolving and molded by the chaos that enters our lives and protrudes our method of thought. Some of us recognize the chaos in our everyday routine and attempt to lead and change our own destiny. Others accept the chaos in its inevitability and silently await their destiny. Life as it is remembered has unclear starts and no real ending. So long as we are here to remember our experiences we are prisoners of our choices, encounters and circumstances.
